GPAG was proud to present SD#46 exhibition of children's artwork in the style of noted Cree Plains artist, George Littlechild.
This exhibition was co-ordinated by Lisa Pugh who writes, "We have been studying the celebration of powwow so the students are not merely copying George Littlechild's artwork they are taking aspects of his art style and creating powwow themed pictures. We have analyzed his style and created a checklist of various things that could be in the paintings like: thick black lines, applique items( stars, feathers, etc), photographs, borders representing blankets, horses representing Cree spirituality, stars representing venus or the morning star, portrait style (head and shoulders up), messages written directly into the painting."
