Gibsons Public Art Gallery promotes artists and encourages public interest in art through workshops, presentations and by presenting a minimum of six juried exhibitions each year.

Exhibitions are chosen from the results of the Gallery’s Annual open submissions call, January 1 – April 30, and occasionally by Invitation. The exhibition schedule for the following year is established after June 30 when  the jurying process is complete.

Artists who make submissions are advised of the Gallery’s decisions as soon as possible after the submissions deadline and/or Curatorial Team and Board consultations.

The Gallery currently does not pay CARFAC fees, but makes every effort to raise money through sponsorships, grants and donations to make CARFAC fees and/or honoraria possible. GPAG continues to express its appreciation for the support of exhibiting artists by diligently promoting the artist and his/her work and helping to facilitate sales of works.

A Curatorial Team is chosen annually and charged with the responsibility of recommending exhibitions by participating in a process of individual and group considerations of artists' submissions  and its recommendations are given to  the Board of Directors.

The Curatorial Team is composed of six members appointed by the Board, equally representing the interests of the gallery, the arts community, and the wider community: two members of the Board of Directors, two representatives of the community at large, and two member artists reflecting a broad cross-section of the visual arts community in its multifaceted variety of training and practice.

In 2010, Jurors are Tom Fraser, Julie Skippon, Jan Adaskin, Todd Clark, Julie Andres and Paula O'Brien. GPAG thanks this Curatorial Team Jury for their time and work in assessing Submissions and Proposals for the coming year.
